quick & easy Christmas Cards

Hey guys!

If you've left it till the last minute to sort out your Christmas gifts and cards, here is a simple idea to make your own Christmas cards, they are quick and easy to do but add that extra personal touch to a gift, making it appear like you've put a lot of extra effort and thought. but the Just some quick and simple Christmas card ideas or they can even be used as gift tags for the last minute gifts you pick up. Plus it's always handy to have a few in case you missed someone out or get one from someone unexpected. This is our entry for a competition, details can be found here.

I always think handmade cards are cute and add a personal touch. Here are some simple designs with items that can be found around your house. All you need is coloured card, paper, glue and scissors. If you don't have card then you can fold the paper twice to create a small card. Christmas is great as they're are some really simple shapes everyone can do: trees, pudding, holly, stars, presents and snowflakes are very simple. Simply cut out the shapes out of coloured paper and stick on to the card or folded paper. Yes, it really is that simple! You can always print of the design on the coloured paper then cut out if you are still struggling.

Snowflakes can be a little tricky so I find it's easier to print of the design on white paper and then you can just cut around it. This gives a perfect symmetrical flakes. You can always try freehand.

The Santa hat is a simple deign. Just cut out a triangle out of red paper, I've used some old wallpaper then either cut out the trimmings for the hat out of white paper or stick on some cotton wool.

The snowman is another simple design. Just cut out two circles out of white paper, one smaller than the other. Then you can just decorate with any bits you have lying around the house. Real buttons could be used too. I've used a sweet wrapper to make his nose and some wall paper to make his scarf and hat.

The pudding was just made by cutting a circle(ish) shape from some brown wrapping paper. Then drawing around part of it onto white paper to ensure the icing matched the pudding shape. then cutting the holly out of coloured paper. There are so many other designs you could do: Santa, robin, reindeer and presents just to name a few. You can use glitter, buttons, sequins and cotton wool to decorate further. Just see what you have in the house.

For a more elegant card, cut out baubles shapes out of patterned paper and stick onto the card. You can then decorate further with glitter pens or ribbons. Wall paper with small patterns works well. There's no need to buy a whole roll just go to your local DIY shop and pick up some samples. I like using the baubles as gift tags too. Just cut out of your paper and use a hole punch to make a hole at the top then tread some string or tinsel through.

My favourite card design has to be a present. Just cut out a square or rectangle out of some paper. I've used some wallpaper (same as the baubles). The picture doesn't do it justice as it is sparkly and perfect for Christmas. Then just add the bow either drawing on with a glitter pen or sticking a real bow on. I think this looks great on black card and is the perfect quick and simple design.

If you feel even these easy deigns are way beyond your capabilities and want something simpler you can make cards on Publisher or Word then print out. I love this simple design of making a tree out of Christmas related words. Then you can use a Christmas border to complete the card. It's just a case of printing and folding and you've got yourself a unique card.

Have fun creating your own cards.

Merry Christmas!

christmas party outfits: under £100 asos outfit

Untitled #50

Velvet is right on trend this season and we absolutely love this burgundy bodycon dress. The burnout detailing across the chest and sleeves takes the dress from simple to elegant.  As there is a lot of detailing across the chest and sleeves and the dress is high neck we decided to add only some simple stud earrings in terms of jewellery. We chose this feather clutch bag to add another texture to the outfit and switch it up a bit. We completed the outfit with some simple but elegant black booties.

This outfit was created for a competition run by fashionvouchers.com, to create a party outfit for under £100 from one chosen fashion merchant. I must say we found this very difficult to find all items from one merchant, hence we chose ASOS as they offer a wide selection of different brands. The total for outfit came up to £98.99!

christmas party outfit: plus size

plus size party outfit
All items form New Look | Clutch £19.99  | Tights £4.99 | Shoes £19.99 | Dress £42 | Bracelet £12.99 | Ring £3.99 | Jacket £24.99

It seems as though our posts are like buses, we had a brief spell of nothing and then two come along at once.     So whilst creating our budget Christmas party look for under £50, we came across a blogger competition run by New look. The aim is to create a party outfit to your suit your shape. This is the outfit that I have put together for my shape which is plus size.

The thing I love about this dress is firstly it's not black and secondly I love how the sequin placement creates a contouring effect thus providing an illusion of an house glass figure. Being plus size does not mean that you have to shy away from colour and wear black all the time, in fact sometimes I feel that black can look bulky rather then slimming. You guys know from my outfit posts that I love to experiment with colour, and so for this party outfit I knew I wanted an injection of colour. I loved this dark red almost burgundy colour because its so perfect for fall and winter, I absolutely love to wear rich bold colours during the colder months. In addition there's just the right amount of sequins to add a bit of evening glamour.

I paired the dress with some black tights and simple black heeled shoes. Tights are practical to keep your leg warms, and also a great way to cover up if like me your not to comfortable having bare legs. Picking a pair of black shoes to complement the black tights will create an illusion of longer legs.

In terms of accessories I chose this gold beaded bracelet. I have been seeing these beaded bracelets everywhere lately and I like how this one has the addition of some tassel detailing. I also paired a simple gold ring with the outfit, you guys know from my outfit posts that I usually prefer simple jewellery. To hold my essentials, namely my phone, keys and some money I chose this elegant black clutch with gold trimming and sequinned detailing.

Lastly to keep warm whilst travelling to and from the venue I chose this tailored black blazer to cover up with. I love how it nips in at the waist to give a structured look.

My last tip, not just for us plus sizers but for everyone, is don't forget to wear the right type of underwear under your dress. This will help the dress to sit right and look more flattering, no one wants to see VPL's!

If your the same shape as me what are some of your top tips for choosing a party outfit?

winter skincare essentials

winter skincare essentials

The dry air that comes with the cold winter chill and the increased used of radiators makes winter the worse season for your skin! So we've put together a list of our favourite products for the winter time to ensure that your skin stays hydrated!

We absolutely adore The Body Shop Body Butters to moisturise our skin with during the winter time. There are different body butters available depending on your skin type and they have great range of scents to. Our favourites are the shea butter and the brazil nut. These are particularly good if you have dry skin.

Top Tip: Moisturise your skin two times a day, morning and night!

It is essential to regularly ex-foliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells and leave skin looking radiant and smooth. Soap & Glory body scrubs are ideal, they smell absolutely awesome, good enough to eat! AS well as leaving your skin feeling silky smooth.

Top Tip: Remember to moisturise your skin after ex-foliating to keep it hydrated.

We love this shea butter handcream. Your hands feel completely nourished after applying it. What's more you don't have that greasy hand feeling. Shea butter is a great ingredient to moisturise and sooth skin. Both of us have quite dry skin, so we love products with shea butter.

Top Tip: Keep a small tube of hand cream in your bag and regularly apply throughout the day, especially after hand washing!

Feet tend to have a hard time throughout the year, but come winter feet tend to get forgotten. We love the soap and glory heel genius to keep our feet nice and soft during the winter time. This cream is a weird blue colour and smells quite herbal and medical, so if you don't like those types of smells then this might not be the right cream for you, but there are plenty of other options out there.

Top tip: Slather your feet in foot cream and put on a pair of cotton socks overnight.

Accessories: The Body Shop

In addition to using moisturising products, using foot files, body brushes, loofah's are a great way to ex-foliate and keep your skin soft and smooth.

Top tip: Use a pumice stone or foot file on your feet to get rid of rough spots

What are your favourite products and tips for keeping your skin hydrated this winter? Share them below in the comments :)

the weather outside is frightful

Untitled #44

Rudolph All-In-One: Next £34 | Festive Mug : Next £8

The temperature of late seems to have significantly dropped. When I leave for work at 7am in the morning, I'm met by a cold chill hitting my face and there are icy patches on the roads. When I leave in the evening again it's cold and frosty. All I want to do is get home and snuggle up by a fire and keep warm.

Recently I spotted some adorable onsies in-stores and online, they look so cosy and warm. As well as being fun and festive. They seem like the perfect attire to snuggle in! I think they will be great to change into after a long at work to unwind and relax in, keeping nice and warm at the same time.

The Mink and Pink Rudolph one above, from Next, has to be my favourite, perfect for the holiday season. I can just imagine myself curled up on the sofa with a yummy mug of hot chocolate!

What do you think of onsies? Are you a fan?
